Private investors are increasingly turning to alternative investments in search of enhanced returns.
Although they tend to be riskier than more traditional investments, the rewards can be impressive: for example, private equity and commercial property funds returned an average of 14.6% and 6.5% per annum respectively during the decade ending in 2010, compared with 2.9% for the FTSE 100, according to the BVCA Private Equity and Venture Capital Performance Measurement Survey 2010.
However, clients wishing to invest in private equity and commercial property face a dilemma.
They are often experienced investors and, as people used to making investment decisions, they may not wish to lock their capital into pooled funds over which they have no control. On the other hand, they often do not have the time to seek out direct investment opportunities or to manage investments personally.

As an Investor Member, you decide whether to invest, case by case. You make the investment decisions, we do all the rest.
We agree a clear exit plan, structure and execute the deal, work with management to increase shareholder or asset value, and regularly report back to participating clients.
Hotbed's investment opportunities are originated through relationships that our team has built up with other professionals throughout the UK during lengthy careers in the industry. Most Hotbed investments are not available to private investors through any other channel.
